Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Haleigh began having seizures at around the age of 2 years old. Doctors initially thought it was just night terrors, After, numerous EEGs, at the age of 11 it was discovered Haleigh had Epilepsy. Now 20 Haleigh has been seizure-free for 5 years

Throughout the years, Haleigh has been involved in various sports such as basketball and softball. She has always tried to educate her teammates and others regarding Epilepsy. She wanted them to know that although she had Epilepsy she was still the same person she was before. Sports was where Haleigh felt the most normal like she was just one of the girls. During middle school and high school, Haleigh became an advocate for Epilepsy.

In High School, Haleigh was awarded the Last Student Standing award. A competition in which students competed in fitness challenges each month until the finals. Haleigh also lettered in basketball as an 8th grader.

Haleigh graduated from University View Academy in 2017. She is planning to attend Full Sail University, where she would like to achieve bachelor’s degrees in Software Development, Game Design, and Game Development along with a Masters in Game Design. One of Haleigh’s goals is to hopefully one day develop a game that can benefit people who have major life disabilities, which is also Epilepsy friendly.

Haleigh enjoys to cook, spend time with friends and family as well as draw. She also enjoys learning new things and coding.  Epilepsy has not only affected Haleigh but also some of her family members as well. Seeing how many people around her affected Haleigh wanted to make a difference in other’s lives and help raise awareness for Epilepsy.
